Best Hotels in Nantes France: Where to Stay for Every Type of Traveler

Looking for hotels in Nantes? We’ve got you! Some links in this post are affiliates, meaning we might earn a small commission if you book through them. But your price stays the same and it won’t cost you anything extra!

We’ve been fortunate enough to visit Nantes twice now, and each time we fall more in love with this vibrant French city. It’s incredibly walkable, and there’s so much to see and do! (We’re planning a whole separate post on what to do in Nantes, so stay tuned for that)!

When it comes to hotels in Nantes France, you’ll find the usual European chain options like Ibis and Mercure, which are perfectly fine if you’re looking for predictable comfort. But such a fun, creative city deserves some unique stays. And we’ve been lucky to try several that really enhanced our experience.

Since we spent almost two weeks in Nantes on our last visit, we opted for an apartment stay for some of our time there so we could grocery shop and not have to eat out the whole time. But we also checked out a few other options along the way. Here’s what we’d recommend! From stylish design hotels, to apartment stays, and unique boutique hotels, you’ll find something here for every travel type.

Best Nantes Hotels That Are Apartment Stays

    Stylish Design Hotels

    Billie Hotel

Billie Hotel is a new hotel in Nantes with a fresh Roaring Twenties theme that brings real personality to the heart of Nantes. Located near Place Royale and Place Graslin and just steps from the famous Passage Pommeraye. It features Art Deco-inspired decor with velvet tones, geometric patterns, and vintage chandeliers that transport you back to the Jazz Age. The rooms are soundproofed and equipped with satellite TV, coffee and tea making facilities, and air conditioning. And it’s eco-friendly too, with a focus on sustainability throughout the property.

    Chachacha Hotel

Chachacha Hotel is another new hotel that just opened in 2025 right across from the train station, which makes it incredibly convenient if you’re arriving by rail. This hotel has a fun, music and dance-inspired vibe that’s both stylish and welcoming without being over the top. There’s also a lobby coffee shop with specialty coffee and fast Wi-Fi, making it a great spot for digital nomads or anyone who needs to get a bit of work done between sightseeing. They offer coworking access during the week, and on weekends they organize activities like fit dance classes, which is such a fun touch.

The rooms at Chachacha Hotel are air-conditioned with comfortable beds, flat-screen TVs, and private bathrooms. The 24-hour front desk means you’re covered no matter when you arrive. The hotel is also just a short walk to the Château des Ducs de Bretagne, making it easy to dive right into exploring the city. Plus, their commitment to zero single-use plastics and partnerships with local artists makes you feel good about where you’re staying.

    Apartment Style Hotels In Nantes

    id-home le St Nicolas

The id-home le St Nicolas apartment was our home base for most of our recent trip, and we couldn’t have asked for a better location. This studio apartment sits right in the heart of everything, with the window opening to a central courtyard that keeps street noise to a minimum. There’s also a grocery store right downstairs, which made getting provisions for lunch or breakfast incredibly convenient.

We loved the updated, modern bathroom too! Just one heads up: while the courtyard kept things quiet from the street, one of our neighbors threw a big Halloween party that sounded like a blast if we spoke fluent French! So if you’re booking during holidays or weekends, just be mindful that apartments don’t have the same noise control as hotels. Thankfully, this apartment also has an elevator! (If you’ve ever hauled your luggage up flights of stairs in Europe, you understand!)

    Appart’Hotel Odalys City

Appart’Hotel Odalys City is another excellent apartment option, especially if you’re traveling with family or planning a longer stay. It’s a bit like a cross between a hotel and an apartment. Each apartment comes with a full kitchenette, private bathroom, work desk, and dining area. And many rooms offer river views, which is a lovely bonus for your morning coffee. The soundproofing is solid, so you also get the independence of an apartment without the noise concerns.

But the amenities here go beyond what you’d expect from an apartment rental. There’s a fitness room if you want to keep up with your workout routine. And the 24-hour front desk gives you that hotel security blanket. There’s even a coffee shop on-site plus bicycle parking and paid car parking is also available if you’re driving.

    Unique And Boutique Hotel Experiences

    SOZO Hotel

SOZO Hotel is hands down one of the most unique hotels in Nantes we’ve ever stayed at. Set in a 19th-century chapel with stunning stained-glass windows, this boutique hotel sits right across from the Botanic Garden in the center of Nantes. If you want the full “I’m sleeping in a church” experience, request a third-floor room for those dramatic vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows.

Every room features free Wi-Fi, Nespresso coffee machines, kettles, and private bathrooms with slippers. Some rooms overlook the beautiful Jardin des Plantes. They even provide local cookies, which is a nice touch. The 24-hour reception means you can check in whenever your travel schedule demands (they were really helpful with storing our luggage when we arrived at 8am but couldn’t check-in until later).

They also offer a breakfast buffet featuring regional products, and you can have it delivered to your room for an additional cost. (We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel, but instead would walk to a patisserie for coffee and a croissant. But it looked good!) If you’re feeling indulgent, you can reserve the Sensory Space (for an additional fee), which includes a sauna, a small ice waterfall, and a sensory shower. The hotel offers four private paid parking spots, but you’ll need to contact them directly to check availability. Personally, we walked everywhere and took a taxi when we needed to, so limited parking wasn’t an issue.

    La Rivière House

La Rivière House is for travelers who want something completely different from the typical hotel experience. This bed and breakfast on a houseboat offers the kind of unique stay you’ll be talking about for years. Yes, you’re actually sleeping on the water!

The accommodations are surprisingly modern and comfortable. Each room comes with a private bathroom, plus a dining area where you can enjoy breakfast with river views. The scenic river location makes this feel like a true getaway, even though you’re still close enough to explore the city. Fair warning: it’s a little outside of downtown, but that’s part of the charm. And I think it’s still walkable to most things you’d want to see in Nantes if the weather is nice. You get peace and quiet on the water while still having easy access to everything Nantes has to offer.

    Central Hotel Comfort

    Mercure Nantes Centre

Mercure Nantes Centre proved to be a great choice for its location alone. It’s walking distance to everything and sits right across the street from a famous steak frites place, which you have to try at least once even if you don’t stay at this hotel in Nantes. The rooms are comfortable and exactly what you’d expect from a Mercure property … clean, modern, and reliable. What really impressed us was how accommodating the staff were with luggage storage on travel days. When you’re bouncing between cities, that kind of flexibility is a lifesaver. It’s something you just don’t get with apartment stays, and it made our check-out day so much less stressful. If you want a straightforward, centrally located hotel in Nantes where everything just works, this is a solid pick.

Whether you’re here for a weekend or planning an extended stay like we did, you’ll find a place that fits your style and budget.

Stay tuned for our guide on what to see and do in Nantes. Trust us, you’ll want to spend more than a day or two exploring this gem of a city.
