I’m just now going through all the photos and story ideas from my research trip to Great Britain to discover stories about food (yes, it’s more than just bangers and mash), and all the fascinating film locations for many popular movies and TV shows.
While y’all wait for me sort through and edit a 1000+ photos, I thought I’d share some of my favorite social moments from the trip. Here they go!
1 – Re-learning how to navigate The Tube (i.e. follow the feet of Londoners)
2 – The moment I became “bonded” with the #BondGirls for life. Singing the song “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” while ripping through the River Thames on a wild boat ride.
3 – Climbing to the top of the O2 …
4 – Jump shot fail at the Old Royal Naval College, right where Thor battled it out with the Dark Elf Malekith in Thor: The Dark World.
5 – Sticky Toffy Pudding … because it’s awesome.
6 – On another food note, tasting “Persian Candy Floss” with pistachio ice cream and rose marshmallows at Oxo Tower Restaurant.
7 – Walking by Tower Bridge at sunset for this magical view.
8 – Sleeping in a former prison cell in Oxford …
9 – Standing where Shakespeare once stood, and having a pint in a pub he used to frequent.
10 – Getting photo-bombed by the Bard thanks to the Photoshop sorcery of my husband, Pete.
Okay. There’s more than 10 great moments. There’s actually 100s. But here’s two more for a bonus …
Exploring the village where Downton Abbbey is filmed and getting my picture taken in front of Mrs. Crawley’s House.
Having afternoon tea at the Sanderson Hotel, Alice-In-Wonderland style …
If you’d like to follow in our footsteps, check out one of the London walks I created on Kamino that includes some great photo opportunities and lunch on the Thames.
I had the opportunity to travel with some wonderfully talented ladies, so I would be remiss if I didn’t introduce you to the #BondGirls. Here they are …
– Katie Lara. My new blogger bff. You can find her stories on Forbes and Fodors as well as her own fun site, TravelingPanties.com.
– Melissa Monaco. We nicknamed her “Chocolate Tart” since she’s both sweet and sassy. Based in Belgium, you can find her stories on MelLovesTravels.com.
– Essi and Tiia. This fun duo are THE girls to follow if you’re into films. And Benedict Cumberbatch. Their blog, FangirlQuest.tumbler.com puts film locations into travel photographs.
**We were hosted by Great Britain for this trip. All thoughts, opinions, and enthusiasm for travel and food are entirely my own.
